Origin and history

How AMOS got here.

  1. 1985

SpecTec was established in Oslo in 1985 and introduced AMOS for planned maintenance and fleet management. It describes itself as a pioneer of asset management software in shipping and marked its 40th anniversary in January 2025.

  2. 2012

In 2012 SpecTec was acquired by Volaris Group, part of Canada's Constellation Software, and organised into commercial shipping (including oil and gas), cruise and superyacht units. The company now has its headquarters in Cyprus and offices in Europe, Asia and America.

  3. 2025

In September 2025 SpecTec launched AMOS-X, a web-based generation of the platform. The current range is offered in tiers, with AMOS Replicator keeping onboard and shore databases in step.

FAQ

Questions about AMOS work.

Are you a reseller or partner of AMOS?

No. Norsetech Group is an independent service provider. We do not sell AMOS; we build, audit and migrate the data that goes into it, in the format AMOS imports.

Do you need a login to our AMOS system?

No. We work from exports and from the AMOS import template, so your live system is not touched.

What do you need from us to start?

The maker instruction manuals and parts lists for the vessel's equipment, the equipment list, and your AMOS import template or an export of your current data. Where manuals are missing we tell you which equipment is affected rather than filling the gap with generic jobs.

Can you move our data from another PMS into AMOS, or out of it?

Yes. We extract and clean the data from the current system, map it to the new platform's structure and deliver it in the new platform's import format, with the history carried across.

Working in AMOS?

Send us the equipment list and your AMOS import template. We reply with a scope for the work.
