Database building, data entry, audits and migration, from the equipment makers' own manuals and delivered in the Star IPS import format.
Overview
Star IPS, the STAR Information and Planning System, is a maintenance and asset management system from Star Information Systems (SIS) of Trondheim, Norway, used across ships, offshore vessels and rigs. Its current generation is STAR Suite, now marketed as STAR EAM.
Origin and history
Star Information Systems has provided software and support for ship and rig management since 1997. In 2003 Helgelandske AS upgraded its fleet to Star IPS, covering component inventories, fleet maintenance, spare parts and ISM document handling, and Solstad Offshore had 50 vessels on the system by 2012.
In May 2023 SIS launched STAR Suite, a new web and native platform for its enterprise asset management system and apps. In 2024 it began a pilot of STAR Explorer, the core STAR Suite application for maintenance planning and reporting, with Color Line, and announced a strategic alliance with the Norwegian PMS and ISM vendor Premas.
SIS is majority-owned by the private equity firm Longship, and in 2025 it acquired the data-quality company Sharecat. Publicly reported users include Solstad Offshore, BW Offshore and Color Line.

FAQ
No. Norsetech Group is an independent service provider. We do not sell Star IPS; we build, audit and migrate the data that goes into it, in the format Star IPS imports.
No. We work from exports and from the Star IPS import template, so your live system is not touched.
The maker instruction manuals and parts lists for the vessel's equipment, the equipment list, and your Star IPS import template or an export of your current data. Where manuals are missing we tell you which equipment is affected rather than filling the gap with generic jobs.
Yes. We extract and clean the data from the current system, map it to the new platform's structure and deliver it in the new platform's import format, with the history carried across.
