Origin and history

How MARAD got here.

  1. 1999

MaraSoft was started in 1999 by Pieter van Urk, a maritime engineer, and Gerrit de Wit, a programmer, as a side project to digitise vessel maintenance. The company remains family-owned, based in Urk in the Netherlands.

  2. 2012

Its cloud platform launched in 2012, followed by DNV type approval in 2017 and ISO/IEC 27001 certification in 2022. In 2025 MaraSoft was renamed Marad, short for maritime administration, and in 2026 the company reported reaching 5,000 vessels.

FAQ

Questions about MARAD work.

Are you a reseller or partner of MARAD?

No. Norsetech Group is an independent service provider. We do not sell MARAD; we build, audit and migrate the data that goes into it, in the format MARAD imports.

Do you need a login to our MARAD system?

No. We work from exports and from the MARAD import template, so your live system is not touched.

What do you need from us to start?

The maker instruction manuals and parts lists for the vessel's equipment, the equipment list, and your MARAD import template or an export of your current data. Where manuals are missing we tell you which equipment is affected rather than filling the gap with generic jobs.

Can you move our data from another PMS into MARAD, or out of it?

Yes. We extract and clean the data from the current system, map it to the new platform's structure and deliver it in the new platform's import format, with the history carried across.

Working in MARAD?

Send us the equipment list and your MARAD import template. We reply with a scope for the work.
